Centenary Committee

Kytherian Association of Australia Sub-Committee

History

The Centenary Committee has evolved to become an unstoppable powerhouse of energy, action and ideas. Throughout 2022, the team promises to deliver the most amazing year full of ceremony and celebration!
Our 100 year book has passed the half-way mark with a dedicated team working away behind the scenes to create a sensational 100 year history of the KAA. I have no doubt that there is a place for this book in every Kytherian home.

The 100 year commemorative medallion – a deal has been struck with the Royal Australian Mint to produce a limited-edition gold-plated medallion. These will be individually numbered and will definitely be in high demand.

The logo, designed by Despina Dimopoulos, will be featured everywhere throughout our centenary year. A range of clothing and branded merchandise will also be available for purchase in 2022.

“A Mile in My Shoes” was a resounding success immortalising six Kytherian migrations stories forever at Australia’s only national museum responsible for immigration – The Australian Maritime Museum. Our member, 88 year old George Alfieris, was the only Greek-Australian in the 35 migration stories featured in the exhibition and his story is now part of the international collection in perpetuity. The exhibition, part of the 2020 Festival of Sydney, was also a positive brand exercise for the Association as we were acknowledged as official supporters in all marketing material.
The migration monument is gaining support for construction in Kythera in 2022.

Every event during 2022 is to have a Centenary theme and you can be sure that the calendar will be packed with exciting events such as the 100 year book launch, the 100 year Ball and many other unique events.
